This is home for Nancy and Emma...
We moved from Miami to Lakeland in November 2001. We bought this little house in the Lakeland Historic District - just north of Florida Southern College. The house was built in 1925 and is just a short walk from the library, art museum, antique shoppes, and a cute little tea room. We love to stroll down to see the ducks and swans on Lake Morton. Best of all, Aunt E, Uncle Scotty and Uncle Patrick ("U.P.") live just up the street and Grandma and Grandpa are just a few blocks away.

Our house...
The front porch
The front porch runs the width of the house. This picture shows the north half of the porch. This is one of our favorite places to play, read, relax, and watch the world go by. There are lots of little kids in the neighborhood that come to visit Emma after school each day.
The living room
This is just one side of the living room, but it's our favorite side. It is filled with books and toys - our favorite things!
The dining room
A nice big dining room is a wonderful thing to have. We can comfortably seat ten - and we've done it more than once already! This table in from the 1940s and was found in a local antique shop. We had it restored and love it!
Emma's room
Not that she's ever slept there, but... We enjoy playing with her dolls and picking out something new to wear each day! The bed, dresser, and bookshelves were Nancy's when she was little. The crib was a gift from Grandpa Murphy. You wouldn't believe how many clothes are in those tiny old closets!
Nancy's room
Yes - the walls are deep purple! The bed was a wedding gift from Father Dennis. One wall of this room is all tall windows looking out to the backyard. It is a very peaceful room. (The bed is against the wall because Emma sleeps with me.)
Back of the house
We have a nice backyard - complete with a brick patio, plenty of play space, an old garage, a potting shed, and lots of fruit trees.
